A Teacher's Duty to Culturally Responsive Teaching (Blog Post 9)

Genius hour question: How can mathematics be used to teach cultural responsiveness?

Hello Everyone,

This post will discuss how it is a teachers duty to provide culturally responsive teaching.

In my own teaching practice, it will be my duty to ensure that I am teaching in a culturally responsive way. I will have the opportunities to design and implement different lesson plans and teaching strategies which can help to foster cultural responsiveness in my students. As a teacher, I will have the choice of incorporating culturally responsive teaching into my practice. This comes down to who I am as a person, and I believe that students should have the chance to learn about cultural responsiveness and that it is part of my duty as a teacher to educate students in this manner.
