As mentioned already in this blog, it is important as educators to foster an inclusive learning environment for all students. Here are some more strategies that you can implement to help make your classroom a more inclusive environment for your students:

1. Use students’ interest in contextualized tasks - represent communities, students, locations, and students interests in the daily tasks you assign

2. Expose students to a diverse group of mathematicians - show that math is for all through different mathematicians, role models, cultures, genders

3. Design assessments and assignments with a variety of response types - give students choice and empowerment, flexibility for time to complete, different ways to express learning

4. Use systematic grading and participation methods - avoid bias towards different groups of people & hold all students to a high standard. Keep records of student performance/participation and use proper assessment practices free of bias

5. Consider your course logistics - offer office hours at an accessible time for students, flexible deadlines, appropriate use of technology, accessible and equitable school work

6. Encourage students to embrace a growth mindset - let students know that mistakes are a part of the process and that in life they will face challenges and setbacks. Persevering will help them to be stronger
